Preparing your sphagnum moss

1. Open the bag and remove the desired amount of moss
2. Rehydrate by soaking in clean, room-temperature water for 10–20 minutes — the moss will expand significantly
3. Drain off excess water and gently squeeze to remove standing moisture — you want it damp, not dripping
4. The moss is now ready to use as a standalone medium, mix component, or decorative layer

Using as a potting mix component

• Blend rehydrated sphagnum into your aroid mix at 10–30% by volume
• Combine with perlite, orchid bark, and Forbidden Cereal for a premium chunky substrate
• Avoid compressing tightly — loose packing preserves the airflow that makes sphagnum effective

Using for propagation

• Fill a sealed propagation container or box with rehydrated sphagnum
• Insert cuttings at the node — the moss will maintain humidity around the cutting
• Mist lightly every few days to maintain moisture without waterlogging
• Roots typically emerge in 2–6 weeks depending on the plant species and conditions

Using on a moss pole

• Rehydrate a small amount and press gently around the base and mid-section of your Mossify Bendable Moss Pole
• This supplements the existing moss layer and gives aerial roots additional contact points
• Mist the pole every 1–2 weeks to keep the moss layer active

Storage

• Store unused dry sphagnum in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight
• Once rehydrated, use within a reasonable timeframe or allow to dry fully before resealing
• Do not store rehydrated moss in a sealed bag for extended periods — this can promote mold
